What will it cost, landed in Singapore?
Three rules decide most of the answer, and all three are on the import guide with their sources. GST is 9% and it is charged on the CIF value, which is the goods plus insurance plus freight. Goods arriving by air or post are relieved of GST when the CIF value is S$400 or less, and that relief does not extend to sea. Customs duty applies to four categories only, so for everything else it is zero.

The worked example, in words
Take an order of 200 pieces at S$60 each, so S$12,000 of goods, with S$900 of sea freight and insurance. The CIF value is S$12,900. Sea freight gets no relief, so GST is 9% of S$12,900, which is S$1,161. If you buy through Onevendor and the goods are bought as listed from one supplier, the fee is 10% of S$12,000, which is S$1,200. The landed cost is S$15,261, or S$76.31 a piece against a listing price of S$60. That gap, a little over a quarter, is typical for sea freight on goods in this price range, and it is the number to compare suppliers on.
Where the estimate stops. It treats the goods as duty-free, which is true for everything except intoxicating liquors, tobacco products, motor vehicles and petroleum products. It does not cover controlled goods that need a licence from another agency, or the low-value-goods GST that overseas sellers charge at checkout. It uses the September 2026 GST rate and threshold. It is an estimate for comparing options, not tax advice; our quotations carry the actual figures for the order in front of us.
Common questions
What is landed cost?
The full cost of goods delivered to your door in Singapore: the supplier's price, plus international freight and insurance, plus import GST and any permit or declaring-agent fee, plus local delivery, plus any sourcing fee. Comparing suppliers on listing price alone misses everything after the first line.
Is GST charged on the freight as well as the goods?
Yes. Import GST is 9% of the CIF value, which is cost plus insurance plus freight. A cheap item shipped expensively attracts more GST than its price alone suggests, which is why freight belongs in the estimate before you approve an order.
Does the S$400 GST relief apply to sea freight?
No. Goods arriving by air or post are relieved of GST at import when the CIF value is S$400 or less. That relief does not extend to sea freight, so a sea consignment is taxed whatever its value. Above S$400 by air, the whole CIF value is taxed, not just the excess.
Why does the calculator exclude some goods?
Singapore charges customs or excise duty on four categories only: intoxicating liquors, tobacco products, motor vehicles, and petroleum products including biodiesel blends. Duty changes the arithmetic and the permits, so the calculator treats everything as duty-free and tells you to get a quotation for those four.
